Taking in to consideration the bitterness of green tea, green tea ice cream may sound unlikely. But the fact is that very yummy ice creams can be made with green tea. The green tea ice cream musters 500 calories with all the protein and fat contained in it. When it is made at home it comes down to about 200+ calories.

Green Tea Ice Cream

Basic green tea recipe

Ingredients:

1. 2/3 cup of water

2. 4 green tea bags

3. ½ cup sugar

4. 1 cup heavy whipping/clotted cream

Method:

* Boil water.

* Add the tea bags and remove it from the stove. Let the tea steep for 5 – 10 minutes.

* Squeeze out the tea from the tea bags and remove them.

* Add sugar. Chill the tea in the refrigerator

* Whip the cream until soft. Fold the green tea in the cream.

* Freeze it in the fridge or in an ice cream maker.

Green tea saffron ice cream (Home made)

Ingredients:

1. 1 cup water

2. 1 table spoon green tea powder

3. 1 cup double cream

4. ½ cup sugar

5. 1 cup cow’s milk

6. 1 egg

7. ¼ tea spoon saffron

8. 1 tea spoon diced almonds

9. 1 tea spoon diced cashew

Recipe for green tea ice creamMethod:

* Boil water in a sauce pan and add green tea powder to it and remove from heat.

* Close the sauce pan and let the tea steep for five minutes.

* Strain the tea and boil it till it reduces to ¼ cups.

* Chill in the refrigerator

* Blend the milk, sugar, egg yolk and saffron in a blender.

* Heat the mixture till the it thickens into a thick custard

* Remove heat and let it cool.

* Whisk the egg white stiff. Whip the cream into a smooth consistency.

* Add the chilled green tea to the custard.

* Fold the whisked egg white and the whipped cream into the green tea custard and freeze

* Serve it in an ice cream bowl sprinkled with diced almonds and cashew.

Green tea vanilla ice cream with strawberry jam (Home made)

Ingredients:

1. 1 cup water

2. 1 table spoon green tea powder

3. 1 cup double cream

4. ½ cup sugar

5. 1 cup cow’s milk

6. 1 egg

7. 1 table spoon strawberry jam

Making of ice creamMethod:

* Boil water in a sauce pan. Add the green tea and remove heat.

* Let the tea steep for 5 minutes. Strain it. Boil the tea till it reduces to ¼ of a cup.

* Chill it in the refrigerator.

* Blend milk, sugar and egg yolk in the blender.

* Heat the mixture till it turns into a nice thick custard. Keep it to cool.

* Whisk the egg white stiff. Whip the double cream into a smooth consistency.

* Add the chilled green tea to the cooled custard.

* Fold the egg white and the whipped cream into the green tea custard. Freeze it

* Serve it scooped up and topped with melted straw jam.
